Adoptions

This is more than rescue. This is a legacy of love, carried forward on four paws.

At Caleb’s Opus, we believe every dog deserves more than just a second chance — they deserve a safe home, a committed family, and a life filled with love.

Our application process helps us thoughtfully match each dog with the right home. We are not looking for “perfect” families. We are looking for committed ones.

Rescue is a lifelong promise — and we take that promise seriously.

Our standard adoption fee is $545 for all dogs except seniors. Adoption fees help cover age-appropriate veterinary care, including spay/neuter, transportation, medical care, shelter-related costs, and food.

We reserve the right to decline any application if we believe the dog’s needs will not be met or the adoption is not in the dog’s best interest. All animals currently in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccinations. We do not place dogs specifically as emotional support animals (ESA) or service dogs.

Why We Have an Application Process

Our dogs come from a variety of backgrounds. Some have experienced neglect, abandonment, or instability. Many need patience, structure, and continued guidance as they transition into their forever homes.

The application allows us to:

• Learn about your lifestyle and home environment
• Understand your experience with dogs
• Ensure the dog’s needs align with your household
• Set both you and the dog up for long-term success

Our goal is not to make the process difficult — it’s to make the match intentional.

What To Expect

Our adoption process typically includes:

  1. Application submission

  2. Application review

  3. Phone conversation or virtual meet-and-greet

  4. Reference checks (including veterinary reference if applicable)

  5. Adoption agreement and fee

We will communicate with you throughout the process and are always happy to answer questions.

• Realistic expectations for training and adjustment
• Willingness to stay in contact and reach out if support is needed

There is no “perfect” home — only the right home for each dog.

Before You Apply

Please take time to consider:

• Are you ready for a 10–15 year commitment?
• Does your schedule allow time for training, exercise, and bonding?
• Are all household members on board?
• Are you prepared for the financial responsibility of pet ownership?

Adoption is a beautiful decision — and one that deserves thoughtful preparation.
